Holland assume sole leadership of Trelawny Major League
DAVIS PEN, Trelawny — Former champions Holland United won their fifth straight game in the Trelawny Football Association’s National Rums of Jamaica Major League on Saturday, beating Friendships FC 3-0 at Davis Pen.
The win took Holland to sole leadership of the league on 15 points after Granville were beaten on Thursday by Clarks Town, thus snapping their win streak at four games.
Ramone Brown gave Holland the lead after 20 minutes, but they had to wait until the second half, in the 58th minute for Hugh-George Watson to double the lead.
Omar Scott, who was making his debut for Holland, after transferring earlier in the week, added a third goal in the 64th minute.
Prospect Links scored their second win of the season to move into fifth place, edging Flames FC 2-1 at Sea Road.
An own goal in the dying minutes of the game, in the 88th minute, made the difference with the two teams tied at 1-1.
Dwayne Duncan had given Prospect Links the lead after 57 minutes before Metro Clarke equalised in the 71st minute.
At Duanvale, the home team blanked Spicy Hill 3-0 to move into second place behind Holland on 13 points, one point ahead of Granville.
