Recognition for Jamaica’s woman in New York
JAMAICA’S Counsul General to New York Geneive Brown Metzger has been recognise for her achievements in business and entrepreneurship and also her contributions to the Caribbean diaspora.
She received the Lifetime Achievement award from the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) at their Annual Caribbean Business Dinner recently.
The counsul general has spent much time highlighting the nation’s investment potential, leading several projects focused on tertiary education, philanthropy and entrepreneurship. Still committed to assisting the country’s growth, she said “Job creation is the top priority. Innovation in business and technology drive job creation and there’s always room to improve how we incentivise these sectors in order to stimulate the economy.”
Brown Metzger helped form the CACCI in 1985 to provide Caribbean nationals with expert advice in the areas of small business start-up, planning, financing, procurement, certification, export/import opportunities and the establishment of partnerships with the government and private sector organisations in the New York area.
Dr Roy Hastick Sr, president of CACCI, said Brown Metzger has made significant contributions as an entrepreneur in the US and that her continued work in bringing New York-based Caribbean businesses to CACCI has helped many of them to thrive during these tough economic.
