Andrew Mahfood appointed FFP-Jamaica board chairman
ANDREW Mahfood, finance director at Wisynco Group Limited, has been appointed chairman of the ten-member board of directors for charity organisation Food For The Poor (FFP) Jamaica.
Mahfood’s appointment, which came into effect on January 3, followed an acceptance of an invitation for former board chairman, Reverend Father Burchell McPherson, to sit on the board of Food For the Poor Inc in Coconut Creek, Florida — having served the local board for seven years.
Mahfood has been volunteering his service to FFP-Jamaica for more than seven years as a board member and chairman of the Audit Committee.
He brings to the position years of experience in management and leadership.
“On behalf of the Board of FFP Jamaica we congratulate Father Burchell on his appointment to the FFP Florida Board and thank him for the seven years he served as Chairman of FFP Jamaica. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as chairman of this incredible organisation. It is our board’s dream that together with our parent organisation FFP Florida, Corporate Jamaica, the Government of Jamaica and other international relief organisations, we can expand and deepen our reach to eradicate poverty from Jamaica,” Mahfood said.
FFP-Jamaica is the largest charity organisation in the country. Food For The Poor Inc, in the meanwhile, is the largest international relief and development organisation in the United States.
