Trio shines in school rugby league
GREATER Portmore High whipped St Catherine High, 34-0, Spanish Town High crushed Kingston College, 44-0, and Edith Dalton James High clipped Campion College, 14-12, in the feature of week two of the Surrey County School Rugby League.
In Under-19 matches, three tries and two conversions from Takeem Creary spurred Spanish Town’s 44-0 blanking of Kingston College at North Street. Shaquille Campbell, Mikhail James, Sean Gayle, Takeem Creary, Kevon Vassell, Linval Green also scored tries, with Campbell and Vassell also converting.
Calabar High defeated St George’s College, 18-8, with tries from Onike Baugh, Dennis Andrade, Remone Gordon, James Gordon for the winners and a conversion from Rasheed Green. For St George’s College’s, Sheldon Kelly and Andre Harrison scored tries.
At Campion College, tries from Jervel Thomas, Nico Bailey, Jerome Rose and a conversion from Nico Bailey ensured Edith Dalton James 14-12 win over the hosts. Marvin Groves and Alexander Carrington had tries and Shannon Harris a conversion for Campion College.
Anthony Roy, with three tries, spearheaded Greater Portmore High’s 34-0 drubbing of St Catherine High. Roy had support from Sheldon Morris, Norman Blagrove, Cleon Anderson, Ryan Hall, with tries and three conversions from Tevin Phillips.
Meanwhile, in Under-16 matches, tries from Roje Sales and Ronn Campbell helped Kingston College beat Spanish Town High 8-4. Creary had the try for Spanish Town.
Two tries from Omario Francis, with assistance from Norman Blagrove and Ian Ramsay, gave Calabar High a 16-12 win over St George’s College, whose Jaynor Banton, Alex Hewitt, Brian Marshall were on the scoresheet with tries.
