Arnett, H’View in U-21 round final
First end-of-round champions Arnett Gardens and second round table-toppers Harbour View will square off for the JFF Under-21 League second end-of-round title this afternoon at the Collie Smith Complex starting at 3:00 pm.
Harbour View finished the second round unbeaten on 31 points with 10 wins from 11 games, and finished five points clear of the first round winners, Arnett, who lost once, but won eight times.
The two meetings between the teams this season have ended in drawn results — 2-2 and 0-0 — and both coaches are anticipating another very difficult encounter.
“The intention is to contest the game like how we have started the second round, and try and keep a clean sheet and don’t lose the game,” said Harbour View’s coach Harold Thomas.
“Nevertheless we expect a tough game… but what will make the difference is the mindset, and if we can keep that mindset that we have played with since the second round, we should be good,” he added.
The Stars-of-the-East have a host of talent to rely on, including Juvanne Benjamin, Romario Campbell, Nico Brett and Jeremy Lynch.
Meanwhile, Arnett’s coach Lijyasu Simms said although his team experienced a minor dip in form towards the end of the second round, he is confident his players will rise to the occasion.
“We know this is going to be a tough one, be we will rise to the challenge,” he stated.
“We know it’s not going to be easy… so if we want the championship, we will have to take and we are up to the task,” he declared.
Arnett hopes will rest on the likes of Jason Moore, Fabian Reid, Javoni Simms, Andre Allen and Kemar Shaw.
