Trio moves up in South Central Super League
ROYAL Lakes returned to the top four, while New Green and Newland are now sixth and eighth respectively, after recording victories in last weekend’s round of matches in the South Central Super League.
The positions of top three remain unchanged, however, as Rivoli United, Meadows and Bodles were also victorious.
Rivoli held on for 85 minutes to claim a 1-0 win over Naggo Head at Monk Street, after a goal by former national player Garfield Reid.
Christopher Russell’s Meadows returned to winning ways, though they left it late to score a dramatic come-from-behind 2-1 triumph against Monymusk at Albion Oval.
The Clarendonians took a surprise lead when Andrew Jones scored in the 11th minute and looked certain of claiming maximum points with less than 10 minutes remaining in the contest.
But in a horrific last four minutes, the visitors conceded two goals, as Orville Newell (86th) brought the hosts back into the game before Linton Lambert (89th) hit the winner, sparking wild celebrations among the home fans.
Bodles, with former Reggae Boy Linval Dixon as its head coach, recorded back-to-back wins as they clipped Spartan Athletic 1-0 at Turner’s Oval.
After a goalless first half, the hosts got the go-ahead goal via a Danian Chai’s strike on 59 minutes, which in the end proved to be the winner.
Royal Lakes took full advantage of a struggling Super Action, as they came away from STETHS 1-0 victors.
Morris Gordon hit the target five minutes from the break for the visitors, who replaced Naggo Head for fourth spot.
Jermaine White scored the all-important goal in the 18th minute, as New Green defeated Downs 1-0 in the Manchester derby.
The fortunes of Newland have taken a positive turn, as they’ve now secured seven points from their last three matches, following a 1-0 home win over De la Vega City, who are suffering a third straight defeat and remain in the relegation zone along with Super Action.
