Western Women’s Basketball League to tip off
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The ISSA/KFC Western Conference female Open basketball championships is set to get underway this morning with an opening ceremony and a triple header at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
Six teams including newcomers Holland High and Montego Bay High, who will return after two seasons away, will take part in the competition that will see the top two teams advance to the final.
Muschett High, who went on to win the national title last season, the first western school to win a national basketball title, will start favourites to extend their winning streak.
The season opens with Spot Valley High taking on Muschett in a 10:00 am start, followed by MoBay High against Holland and after the opening ceremony set to start at 1:00 pm, Herbert Morrison and William Knibb will meet at 3:00 pm.
The Boys Under-14 competition is set to get underway later in April with 10 schools taking part, led by defending champions Cornwall College.
