JIS opens regional office in Montego Bay

Minister without portfolio responsible for Information, Senator Sandrea Falconer (second left), cuts the ribbon to officially open the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) Montego Bay Regional office on Tuesday, while (from left) Custos of St James Ewen Corrodus, Chief Executive Officer at JIS Donna-Marie Rowe and branch manager Brian Miller look on.

In her address Senator Falconer reiterated the government’s commitment to openness and transparency to ensure a more informed and engaged citizenry.

She argued that it is imperative that the administration provides as much information as possible to the public, so that Jamaicans can know “what we are doing to ensure economic growth and development, socio-economic justice, the protection of rights, and the encouragement of local entrepreneurship.”

Meanwhile, Custos Corrodus in congratulating the JIS on the opening of the new office lauded the staff for their outstanding job in informing the nation on various activities of importance.

Rowe in her remarks told the gathering that the vision of the JIS is to be the agency of choice for credible government and national information and cutting edge media services, while maintaining the full confidence of all Jamaicans.
