From Japan to Jamaica
The presentation has become an annual activity, following the 2011 charity bazaar of the Japan-Latin American and Caribbean Ladies Association, of which the Jamaican embassy in Tokyo, Japan — through ambassador Claudia Barnes — is a member.
According to Nicholson, the donation represents “the global recognition that education, particularly at the earliest stages, fuels the vehicle of personal development and nation building.”
Last year, the embassy, through the ministry, donated the proceeds from the 2010 bazaar — nearly US$1,000 — to the School for the Therapy, Education & Parenting of Children with Multiple Disabilities.
