Taurus Bash for May 12
THE Taurus Bash stage show returns to Chocolate Villas in Junction, St Elizabeth, on May 12 with a line-up that includes dancehall heavyweights Bounty Killer, Sizzla and Gyptian.
It is the third straight year that Taurus Bash will be held at Chocolate Villas, an outdoor venue in the heart of St Elizabeth’s farming region.
Promoter Paul Lowe-Chin says it has become more than a show.
“It’s a joy, the support we get from the people in Junction is a welcome feeling,” he said.
Some of the proceeds from Taurus Bash will go to the Junction Early Childhood Institute’s breakfast programme. The promoters adopted the early education facility last year and plan to make their involvement with the school a long-term one.
Lowe-Chin, a music producer who has worked with the biggest names in dancehall/reggae, is principal of Chiney K Records which has released hit songs such as Mama’s Love by Bounty Killer.
His Chiney K Productions with support from Bahamas-based company Head Noize are the main organisers of Taurus Bash. Lowe-Chin has been involved with the show since its inception in 2005 when it was known as Bounty Killer and Friends.
Back then, it was held at the Amnesia nightclub in Ocho Rios. But after four years, it outgrew that venue and moved to Chocolate Villas which can accommodate as many as 10,000 patrons.
This year, Bounty Killer returns as one of the headliners, with an all-star cast that includes Mavado, Lutan Fyah, Duane Stephenson, Fanton Mojah, Turbulence, and veteran singer Jimmy Riley.
Three persons will be recipients of awards. They are Winston ‘Wee Pow’ Powell, founder of the Stone Love sound system who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award; Bounty Killer, the Iconic Award; and Sizzla, who will be given the Cultural Ambassador Award.
