Westchester stop Hellshire for LIME D2 title
LOUSENG Davis’s 90th-minute goal was all Westchester needed last Sunday to capture the LIME Portmore Division Two Football title over Hellshire United at Ferdie Neita PArk and earn promotion to the St Catherine Division One.
Westchester became the second team to win the title since LIME became official sponsor of the competition. The first team was Watson Grove who are currently participating in the St Catherine Division One since being promoted last season.
From the sound of the first whistle, Westchester began to attack, but were held goalless at the half by Helshire.
In the last 25 minutes of the game, Hellshire made some serious breakaway, but were thwarted by the Weschester defence.
Westchester eventually took the lead when Davis capitalised on a rebound from a clearance that fell to boot which he sent straight into the back of the net.
Excited Westchester coach Curtis McKenzie told the Jamaica Observer he was proud of his team’s efforts and the execution of their plans which resulted in victory for the community of Westchester.
“I am very proud of the Westchester team. They did what they were told to do and that is what made us champions,” he said.
In the meantime, Hellshire’s Gary Thompson said the entire community was disappointed about the loss in the last five minutes of the game.
