Police step up presence in Rockfort
POLICE in East Kingston have stepped up their presence in Rockfort and surrounding communities.
The officials said the move is aimed at bringing under control a recent upsurge in violence among rival gangs in the area.
Head of the East Kingston Police Division, Superintendent Arthur Brown, said residents in the volatile community staged a protest recently, calling on police to increase their presence in the area.
“Since the concerns were raised the police have stepped up their presence and several persons have also been brought in for questioning,” said Brown.
Police have also dismissed claims by residents that only men from one side of the community are being arrested by the police.
