Neighbours Kensington, Lucas in close battle
KENSINGTON CC and Lucas were locked in a tense battle for first-innings points at the end of the rain-affected opening day of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Senior Cup match at Kensington Park yesterday.
After dismissing Lucas for 160, Kensington replied solidly and will resume on 52-1 at 9:30 am on this the second and final day’s play.
For Kensington, Ranville Brown is unbeaten on 32, while Brian Clarke is on 15. Bowling for Lucas, all-rounder Travis Reid sent back Kimani Morgan to the pavilion for two.

Batting first, Lucas struggled against the home team’s bowling attack despite a 76-run fourth-wicket stand between promising youth batsman Ramon Senior, who stroked 43, and Geoffrey Laing, who added 36. Reid also chipped in with a useful 34.
Montserrat seamer Damian Williams grabbed 3-14, while young wrist spinner Roshane Manning took 3-32. National medium-pacer David Bernard took 2-24.
At Manchester High ground, the two-time defending champions Manchester CA cruised to an innings and 48 runs win over Kingston & St Andrew CA.

At Melbourne Oval, the home team stumbled to 115-7 against St Thomas before rain halted play for the day. Scores: Melbourne 115-7.

St James CA grabbed first-innings points against visitors Westmoreland, but were stuttering on 90-6 in their second innings. Scores: St James 187 and 90-6; Westmoreland 153.

In the battle of the security forces, the Jamaica Defence Force closed on a formidable 304-9 against Police at Elletson Road. Scores: Jamaica Defence Force 304-9.
At Eden Park, Kemar Allen took 7-63, including a hat-trick, but could not prevent visiting St Ann losing first-innings points to St Mary. Scores: St Ann 168 and 4-0; St Mary 193.
