KINGSTON CC moved into second place in Zone D with a nine-wicket win over Boys’ Town at Up Park Camp in last weekend’s lone match in the Jamaica Cricket Association two-day Senior Cup tournament.
Boys’ Town made a battling 230 in the first innings, but folded for just 94 at their second opportunity at the crease. Kingston cruised to 22-1 to complete the victory after racking up 305 in their first-innings reply.
Scores: Boys’ Town 230 and 94; Kingston CC 305 and 22-1.
Batting first on Saturday’s opening day, Boys’ Town got off to a positive start as openers Oneil Davey and Kemar Davis put together a stand of 99 runs.
Davey was the top-scorer in the innings with a boundary-laden 62, including nine fours and two sixes, while Albert Rose and Gerald White supported with 41 and 37, respectively. Davis also chipped in with 27.
Bowling for Kingston, seamer Fabian Forbes grabbed 3-28 off eight overs, while spinner Paul Harrison took 3-51 off 18. Another slow bowler, Frederick Hermitt, was also crucial, snatching 2-57 to help restrict Boys’ Town.
In response, Kingston posted 305 as Nicholas Nelson (63), Andre Bryce with an attacking 51 and Jowayne Robinson (47) batted well against pacer Kemar Brown, who took 5-85.
Harrison (3-20) and fastbowler Andrew Richardson (3-21) then combined to dismiss Boys’ Town for 94 and set up the easy win.
Kingston are now on 13 points, just one behind surprise leaders St Thomas, while Boys’ Town remain at the base of the zone without a point.
Melbourne CC are in third place on 11 points, while East Kingston neighbours Lucas and Kensington follow with 10 each.
