Not the Only Girl?

She’s got a body that most women envy, but it seems Rihanna isn’t as confident as you’d think. The 24-year-old is said to have used a body double for the sexy Armani advertisement which she filmed earlier this year. However, Rihanna may not be so forthcoming about this revelation and no doubt wants fans to believe she features throughout the minute-long video.

According to The Sun, Irish model Jahnassa Aicken is the other woman who bares her body in a pair of designer knickers. However, Rihanna’s management allegedly made her sign an order banning her from speaking about the fact that she was used as a double. “Jahnassa’s torso, body and bum appear in parts of the ad,” a source told the newspaper. The Umbrella singer — who first stated that she would be collaborating with Armani late last year — clearly wasn’t feeling over-confident about her own figure.

Brazil’s next top model

Gisele Bündchen has launched a model search across some of Brazil’s most deprived areas. The 31-year-old supermodel returned to her native country to launch the initiative which aims at boosting ‘slum dwellers’ self-esteem.

One finalist from each of the 27 states will be selected by a judging panel, then one will be crowned Top CUFA (Central Única das Favelas, or Central Union of Slums). “I feel privileged to be the sponsor of this project,” the mother of one said, recalling that she had been rejected by 42 agents in London at the start of her career, when she was only 17. “I was finally taken on the 43rd try.” The winner will receive a year’s worth of Pantene hair products — a brand for which Bündchen is spokesperson — a year-long modelling contract, and the crown that Bündchen won at her first Carnival in Rio. The final will be held in Rio over August and September. In the late 1990s, she was one of the first Brazilian models to find international success. Since 2004, she has been the highest-paid model in the world and the sixteenth richest woman in the entertainment industry (as of 2007) with an estimated $150-million fortune.

Meow!

She has stayed silent following Madonna’s most recent dig over the similarities between her single Born This Way and the Material Girl’s hit Express Yourself.

But now Lady Gaga appears to have hit back in a thinly veiled attack on Madonna’s decision to perform a mash up of the two songs during rehearsal for her latest tour. According to reports, Gaga, 26, made a few choice comments during a concert last week in Auckland, New Zealand. “It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make mockery of their work,” she told the audience in-between songs.

And although the star didn’t mention Madonna by name, the remarks she made seemed to be directed at the older star — who first became famous back in 1983 with hit single Holiday.

“Things are really different than they were 25 years ago, and that’s what makes Born This Way so relevant for me,” said Gaga. Gaga’s comments came after Madonna covered her song Born This Way, mashing it up with Express Yourself on the first concert of her MDNA tour.
