Public happy with LIME’s rate cut
Jamaicans yesterday, for the most part, gave positive reactions to LIME’s announcement of a drastic cut in call rates to $1.99 and $2.99 per minute. Here are the views of some with whom the Observer spoke.
Kelly Nevers – Haynes
“If the cost is reduced then it simply means that I will have more talk time. And I use LIME to call my husband’s Digicel (phone) and they have dropped that too, so that means also that I will get more talk time with my husband. Right now LIME has the competitive edge.”
Ricardo Grill
“Well, I am going with the cheapest one. Right now my phone uses two chips, a LIME and a ‘Digi’, and if LIME is the cheaper then I will more sponsor LIME — without a doubt.”
Andrea Mills
“You know competition is well for the country and for the people; you benefit from it. So I think this competition will allow LIME to gain more customers, boost their profit, and allow them to stand at a better position in the market. I think more people will switch because you will save and you will get more time to talk.”
Samantha Brown
“I feel that with this LIME is going to take away their (Digicel) customers. I am a Digicel customer and I feel like I would switch, I am not lying.”
Dwight Morgan
“Lime has been paying the price for what they did to us before Digicel came. Because of that people remain loyal to Digicel, no matter what LIME comes with. But it (promotion) will give them an edge in the whole competition, considering the cost of living and everything.”
Sandreen Elliott
“I feel like I would switch to LIME because it is cheaper and plus with this type of economy people can’t afford the phone cards. I am a Digicel and LIME customer but preferably I am going to use LIME because it is cheaper. Still I don’t think it will do much damage to Digicel because Digicel customers are loyal.”
Alphonso Holding
“I have started using LIME because I get better minutes, timing out of it. I have been a LIME customer for over 20 years and you get a better value from LIME.”
Sharon Shaw
“From I know myself I have been using Digicel and I will stick to it, I will not change my Digicel.”
