JDF, Circus Circle clash in JNBS weekend feature
Leaders Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) will battle third-placed Circus Circle in the feature of the JNBS National Hockey League this afternoon at 3:00 as third-round matches resume at the Mona Hockey facility.
On top of the league with 23 points, the JDF will seek their third consecutive win over Circus Circle this season.
The Soldiers defeated Circus Circle 5-3 on March 24 and showed it was no fluke on May 12 with an emphatic 6-1 win.
Jerome Davis, Marlon Martin, Evol Powell and Andre Fletcher have led the goal-scoring charge for the JDF so far this year.
Circus Circle, on 21 points, will try to turn the tables on their hard-running and far more physically fit opponents.
Charles Burton, Kemar Mitchell, Sherman Brown, Kishawn Whyte and Gerald Richards will have to blunt the fighting edge of the army men to give themselves a chance.
At 4:30 pm, Munro College Old Boys (14 points) will take on cellar team Explorers (two points).
In the women’s league tomorrow, Tropics will take on Excelsior at 2:00 pm and St Andrew Hockey Club face Sharpes Rebels at 5:00 pm.
At 3:30 pm tomorrow Raiders United, in second place with 23 points, will go up against fourth-placed Sharpes Rebels (14 points) in the lone men’s game.
