Beyoncé hints at the meaning of Blue Ivy’s name

As far as celebrity baby names go, Blue Ivy is perhaps the most exceptional; and after much speculation, Beyoncé has now hinted at her reasons behind choosing it.

The singer, 30, posted a passage on her official Tumblr from Rebecca Solnit’s 2005 novel, A Field Guide to Getting Lost. The excerpt focuses on the significance of the colour blue, beginning: ‘The world is blue at its edges and in its depths.’ And the final sentence Beyoncé posted seems to summarise the power of the colour as it reads: ‘The light that gets lost gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is in the colour blue.’

Blue Ivy was born on January 7 and ever since, fans of Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been speculating about the symbolism behind the unusual name. Some have thought it may not be a coincidence that Jay-Z has released three Blueprint albums in the last ten years. Meanwhile, it is widely believed that the name Ivy is intended to reference the Roman numeral IV, as the number four bears a great deal of significance for the power couple. The pair were married on April 4, 2008, and 4 is the title of Beyoncé’s latest album. In addition, the singer’s birthday is September 4, and her hip-hop star husband’s is December 4.

A pregnant Snooki at the club?

When she confirmed earlier this year that she was expecting a baby with her fiancé Jionni La Valle, Snooki said the thought of going clubbing while pregnant was “disgusting” .

But it seems that the reality TV star has changed her opinions somewhat, judging by pictures of her and Jionni at renowned Jersey nightclub Karma recently.

The 24-year-old star, real name Nicole Polizzi, was spotted spending time with Jionni at the Seaside Heights nightspot — a favourite haunt for the Jersey Shore crew while filming the MTV reality show.

Snooki’s trip to the club comes after she said in an interview announcing her pregnancy: “I’m not living in that house being pregnant. I don’t want to be one of those moms who’s pregnant in a club. It’s disgusting.” However, it seems the lure of the shore won out in the end, with Snooki eventually signing on to appear in the sixth season of the programme.

Ahead of her trip to Karma with Jionni, Snooki was seen out and about in Seaside Heights. Snooki revealed last month that she and Jionni are expecting a little boy, and admitted she is hoping to name the tot Lorenzo.

Leonardo DiCaprio and girlfriend Erin Heatherton in New York

He’s one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, she’s a jet-setting supermodel, but Leonardo Di Caprio and Erin Heatherton played very much the normal couple as they joined each other for a bike ride in New York City recently. The handsome pair clearly revelled in their time together, smiling at each other on the afternoon date and doing their best to go unnoticed .

The Great Gatsby star, who has been dating Erin for over six months, joined his newest leading lady for lunch before they got on their bikes and whizzed through downtown Manhattan. Leo was barely recognisable flying by in an overgrown beard, sunglasses and newsboy cap. Erin was the picture of a spring beauty, however, her long blonde locks twirling in the wind.

Being forced to spend lots of time apart due to the 37-year-old’s filming schedule and Erin’s jetsetting modelling career, the pair seem to make the most of the moments they spend together.Earlier this month, she visited the actor’s location in Louisiana, where they were photographed riding bicycles with DiCaprio’s mother Irmelin.
