I wonder if you can find out from the management of Digicel if I have really lost my money. I bought two $200.00 prepaid cards (print out ones, not scratch out) at Empire Supermarket at 121 Old Hope Road on March 9, 2012 (13:31 pm). I tried to utilise them on June 20 with no success. I got the message the number is not available. I called the phone company’s customer number 100 and explained the problem.

They said that they would look into it and get back to me within 24 hours. Not unexpectedly, I did not hear from them. I called them again on June 22 (48 hours later) to find out what was happening. They said the cards were lost or stolen and I should go back to the place where I bought them to sort it out.

I went back to the supermarket and explained what had happened but they said they could not help me, I then went to the Digicel outlet in Sovreign plaza and told them what had happened. They went through the same process again. I got the impression that they were reported stolen and I was told to go back to the place where I purchased them. This is like going around in circles.

Have I lost my money through no fault of my own? Can’t they find out who utilised the cards if they were used at all?

According to Digicel you could not use the prepaid cards as the vendor “may have gotten faulty credit”. The company has advised Tell Claudienne that they have been working with the vendor to ensure that there are no further discrepancies. in the meantime we see that Digicel has contacted you and apologised for the inconvenience. We also note that they have applied the $400 credit purchased (two $200 prepaid cards) directly to your phone.

Could you please help me to locate the Kingston and St Andrew Cooperative Credit Union that was once situated at 10 Skibo Avenue in Kingston.

The Jamaica Cooperative Credit Union League has advised Tell Claudienne that the St Andrew Cooperative Credit Union no longer exists. It was joined wth the GSB in 2003. The head office of the GSB is at 10 East Avenue, Kingston 4. The GSB also has branches at 20 Dominica Drive, New Kingston (Kingston 5) and at 10-12 Bryan Crescent, May Pen Clarendon.
