Circus Circle clinch JNBS National Hockey League
CIRCUS Circle captured the JNBS National Hockey League weekend when they hammered Munro College Old Boys (MCOB), 5-1, to top the competition with 31 points.
Kemar Mitchell struck four times (17th, 29th, 32nd, and 68th minutes) to become joint top-scorer with 15 goals in the league. Gerald Richards (28th minute) grabbed the fifth goal for Circus Circle after Oshane Hasley opened for MCOB (20 points) in the fifth minute.
The Jamaica Defence Force were runners-up with 29 points as they scored a narrow 3-2 win over dethroned champions Sharpes Rebels (21 points).
Kenniel Mushette, Marlon Rowe and Evol Powell were on target for JDF, while George McGlashen and Giovanni Gordon responded for Sharpes.
Raiders United secured third place with 27 points thanks to a triple from Nicholas Beach (24th, 27th, and 35th minutes) who ensured their 5-2 win against Explorers (two points).
Duvaughn Henlon added a double for Raiders, while Edward Wilson and Rashid McCarthy hit home for Explorers. Beach also finished the competition as joint topscorer with 15 goals.
In Women’s League, Tropics stayed atop with 12 points after beating Excelsior Hockey Club, 1-0. Antonette Baxter scored in the 17th minute for Tropics.
Sharpes Rebels are in second place with 10 points, courtesy of Jo’nel Witter (56th minute) and Melisha Murray (64th minute), in their 2-0 win over St Andrew Hockey Club.
