Olympics provide ticket boost for Paralympics
LONDON, England (AP) — Tickets sales for the London Paralympics have surpassed two million following a surge provided by the start of the Olympics.
Organisers say more than 600,000 tickets have been bought in the past month, taking total sales to 2.1 million and exceeding the previous record of 1.8 million set four years ago for the Beijing Games.
The Paralympics start on August 29, less than three weeks after the Olympics close on August 12.
International Paralympic Committee president Philip Craven says “London has delivered a quite spectacular Olympic Games which has further whetted the appetite of the public ahead of the Paralympics.”
Around 400,000 tickets are still available for the games, which will end on September 9.
