RPO to train JA musicians

DURING their visit to Jamaica, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will be implementing special workshops.

The world renowned orchestra will be in the island on September 10 to 17.

These workshops will include: group instrumental tuition for the Immaculate Conception High School Symphony Orchestra; a creative workshop for the National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica (NYOJ); a pedagogical workshop for the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, as well as an open workshop with formal string coaching and a creative component for choral and nonstring instruments.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is scheduled to perform at two concerts during their stay in Jamaica. The first will be on Thursday, September 13 at Northern Caribbean University in Manchester, and the other on Saturday, September 15, at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Kingston.

The RPO’s visit, their concerts and workshops have been organised by the National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica and made possible by major sponsorship from Digicel, NCB Capital Markets and Supreme Ventures Limited.

Tickets are available in Mandeville at Fontana Pharmacy, Northern Caribbean University’s Bookstore and Digicel Willowgate Plaza; in Montego Bay at Fontana Pharmacy and Digicel Westgate Plaza and in Kingston at Cannonball Cafe, Shields & Shields, Music Mart and Digicel/Anbell, New Kingston.
