Reasonable Press came thundering down the track after finding racing room between horses to win the sixth running of the $1,000,000 Seek Exercise Book Trophy feature by a short head at Caymanas Park

on Saturday.

Prepared by 14-time champion trainer Philip Feanny for owners Hamark Farms, Reasonable Press, a 9-2 chance ridden by champion jockey Dick Cardenas, took full advantage of the 1-9 favourite Commanding Chief to win the event by a diminishing short head from Go Go Yvonne, a 5-1 betting option ridden by Carlton Malcolm.

After Commanding Chief missed the break, it was over for him and the son of Mass Media took up the

mantle by winning in a smart of 1:18.1 for 1,300 metres.

Traditional Prince, a 32-I shot who brought them in the lane after taking over from the speedball gelding Mr Skill ridden by Richards Mairs, had no answer to the burst from Reasonable Press and Go Go Yvonne when the pace quickened with the wire in sight and had to be contented to be third another 1 3/4 lengths.

Jet Setter, the mount of leading jockey Dane Nelson who failed to go early, came from last to complete the frame in the field of eight. Nine runners were originally declared, but Classic Beau was a late none-starter.

By Mass Media out of Reasonable Thought (Peaks And Valleys bred by B&B Bloodstock, Marty Hughes & Desmond Ryan in the USA), Reasonable Press was winning for the fifth time from 15 career starts and earned $546,000 as the winner’s share for earnings of $3,096,100 lifetime.

Meanwhile, Shane Ellis, Paul Francis and Cardenas rode two winners

each to share the riding honours on the 12-race card.
