PETROJAM defeated Wisynco Group, 2-1, in the final of the Scotiabank Group-sponsored Kingston & St Andrew Business House Football KO competition at Red Stripe Oval on Sunday.

Givon Brown should have given Wisynco the lead in the 20th minute, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Damion Campbell, while Aphas Burnard and Richard Stultz both failed to score for Petrojam as the half ended 0-0.

Petrojam took the lead in the 54th after a good build-up between Stultz, Ricardo Munroe and Burnard saw Munroe beating the hapless Kelso Cousins from close range after receiving a defence-splitting pass from Burnard.

Wisynco levelled in the 67th when Norman Bailey tapped in a rebound from Brown’s shot which rebounded off the crossbar. Garfield Francis of Wisynco got two easy opportunities to score in the 75th and 83rd, on both occasions having only the goalkeeper to beat. Campbell saved one shot and the other was kicked over the crossbar.

Wisynco regretted those misses as in time added, Petrojam got a free-kick at the half-line which goalkeeper Campbell took and found the head of Burnard, who nodded home.

This was Petrojam’s second hold on the trophy following their first lien in 2008.

In the curtain-raiser, NCB beat Fire Brigade, 4-1, to book their spot in Saturday’s semi-finals of the Western Sports Division Two League.

Goalscorers for NCB were Victor Riley (25th), Dellon Dixon (49th) and a brace by George Clarke, in the 57th and 66th.

Christopher Peters netted the consolation for Fire Brigade in the 27th. The victory saw NCB completing the preliminary round with 19 points, while Fire Brigade ended on 13.
