McIlroy in tie for lead; Woods one behind
CARMEL, Indiana (AP) — Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy seem to be spending a lot of time together these days. That included the top of the leaderboard in the BMW Championship yesterday.
McIlroy was dialed in with his irons and birdied his last two holes for an eight-under 64 that got him into a four-way tie for the lead at Crooked Stick.
Woods made a 30-foot birdie putt on his last hole and was one shot behind with a 65. They both made it look easy, and Crooked Stick was every bit of that because of heavy rains earlier in the week.
Indiana local Bo Van Pelt, US Open champion Webb Simpson and Graham DeLaet of Canada also were at 64. Crooked Stick was so vulnerable that all but five holes played under par.
