MONTEGO BAY, St James – A man who said the Jamaica Tourist Board Courtesy Corp female officer who arrested him and “a tell lie pon poor people pickney” was fined $6,000 after admitting to three of the four charges he faced in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court last week.

Andre Bailey, who told the court he was from Kingston and in Montego Bay seeking a job, denied threatening the officer on November 3rd along Gloucester Avenue, but admitted using abusive and indecent language and resisting arrest.

Bailey, the court heard, was seen along the Hip Strip at around 8:30 pm on November 3 “acting suspiciously” and when he was approached by the Courtesy Corp officer he verbally abused the officer.

Bailey admitted he put up some resistance to the officer, but only because he thought he was being unfairly targeted, and told the court he was the one who was assaulted while being transported to the Freeport Police Station.

He was fined $2,000 or 10 days on each charge of abusive language, indecent language and resisting arrest, while the charge of threatening the officer was withdrawn.
