SMEs urged to make use of cloud technology
Small businesses stand to save between 30 per cent and 50 per cent with cloud technology, says Digicel.
Digicel Business, the company’s corporate solutions arm, went on a drive to sensitise small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the technology during the Young Entrepreneurs Association’s (YEA’s) National Entrepreneurship week, which ended yesterday. Through reduced infrastructure costs and no upfront expenses, cloud technology adds efficiency to organizations, said the company, noting that it has made the cloud much more accessible to SMEs.
According to Digicel, its desire to expose the technology to small businesses played a big part in its decision to support National Entrepreneurship week.
“Digicel Business is delighted to be supporting the activities of the YEA to help our young people explore their potential as self-starters, innovators and future business leaders,” said Suzanne Saunders, the head of business solutions at Digicel.
“We have had a fantastic relationship with the SME sector in Jamaica over the years and we fully recognise the importance of stimulating entrepreneurship among this sector… we are firmly established as a core provider of business solutions to this very important sector through our suite of innovative ICT products and services,” she added.
This year’s National Entrepreneurship week celebrations was held under the theme, “Making your business your passion”. It was the third time that Digicel Business was sponsoring the event.
