Akilah Richards to headline emotional wellness ‘muminar’
THIS Wednesday, internationally acclaimed Life Design Consultant Akilah Richards, CEO of Execumama, will be the main feature at the Young Mummy Diaries: Emotional Wellness For Busy Moms ‘muminar’ at The Devonshire.
The ‘muminar’ is focused on inspiring, educating and entertaining busy mothers to assist them on their motherhood journey.
“My passion was born out of my own life as a mother of three young children, and the many demands I have daily on my role as a wife, a parent and an employee,” said conceptualiser Tamiann Young, 29-year-old public relations executive and founder of Young Mummy Dairies, Mummy Mingle and the muminar.
“This can prove to be very challenging. I thought, if I have some support and feel overwhelmed, I wonder what it is like for single parents facing some serious issues? The journey is not easy, therefore mothers require as much information, inspiration and entertainment to assist in making the load light.”
In May last year Young Mummy Diaries successfully staged its first mummy-focused event dubbed ‘Mummy Mingle’, held at Bookophilia.
Coming from the success of Mummy Mingle and good feedback from mothers, Young decided to do it again.
“November is celebrated as Parents Month and the Ministry of Education has been pushing for organisations and community groups to use this time to focus on issues affecting parenting. We thought this would be a good time to host the muminar,” Young said.
The muminar targets busy executive mothers and mums-to-be who are in some cases the breadwinners and principal decision makers in their families.
It will feature a 90-minute interactive seminar presented by Jamaican-born Richards of Execumama, based in Atlanta, Georgia.
The day will also include an on-the-spot beauty bar offering free makeovers, and complimentary babysitting services.
