FROME, Westmoreland — Cavalier continued their hot streak in the Red Stripe Premier League beating fellow promoted team Savannah SC 3-0 in a second-round game played at the Frome Sports Complex yesterday.
Defender Adjuran Brown, substitute Rashedee Clarke and Kirk Fletcher scored for Cavalier in the second half to avenge their first-round loss to Savannah who extended their winless skid to 11 games. Cavalier, on the other hand, have increased their winning streak to four straight games and are unbeaten in six games to take their points harvest 22. Savannah remained in the relegation zone with 11 points.
In addition to losing the game and conceding their 22nd goal without scoring, the Westmoreland club also had to rush first half substitute Rohan Young to the hospital after he was left unconscious for a short time after being struck in the head by a ball.
Young had replaced Davian Thorpe in the 33rd minute.
Additionally, Savannah extended their run since scoring their last goal to 438 minutes after taking the lead against Boys’ Town at Frome in a game in late October.
After being held goal less in the first half, Cavalier went ahead early in the second half when Brown netted in the 47th minute and 20 minutes later Clarke doubled the lead.
Fletcher added a third in time added on to add to Savannah’s misery.
In another early encounter, Sporting Central Academy edged Boys’ Town 1-0 at Brancourt. Sporting now move their points tally to 20, while Boys’ Town remain on 23.
