Titans off the mark in JPL T20
Spanish Town Titans got their first victory of the season after trouncing Ocho Rios Chargers by 85 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Club yesterday in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) Twenty20 tournament.
Captain Tamar Lambert led the way with 88 and Wayne Morgan cracked 76 not out in the Titans’ mammoth 213-4 off the allotted 20 overs
In reply, the Ocho Rios team, despite 51 from West Indies youth player John Campbell, was dismissed for 128. National leg-break bowler Odean Brown finished with 3-18 for the Titans.

In the other match at Melbourne, the Half-Way-Tree Sparks made it two wins in as many matches after edging out Kingston Hurricanes by 20 runs.
Scores: Half-Way-Tree Sparks 155-8 (20 overs); Kingston Hurricanes 135-7 (20 overs).
At the Treasure Beach Sports Complex, May Pen Earthquakes beat the Mo-Bay Sixers by 28 runs in the low-scoring opening match.
Scores: May Pen Earthquakes 121-9 (20 overs); Mo-Bay Sixers 93 (17.4 overs).
In the afternoon fixture at the same venue, the University Dynamites lost to Mandeville Thunder by four wickets in another low-scoring clash.
Scores: University Dynamites 88 (19.3 overs); Mandeville Thunder 89-6 (19.4 overs).
The competition continues next weekend with a full set of matches for Noranda Sports Complex in Discovery Bay and the Chedwin Park ground in St Catherine.
The teams are vying for the $700,000 winners’ prize, while the runners-up are set to pocket $500,000. The man-of-the-tournament will walk away with $50,000.
