CHRISTMAS… From Tropical Flair to Christmas cheer
‘Tis the season to be jolly and to bring holiday cheer into your home. All year round I have embraced the beauty of tropical flowers in my home because they are bold and beautiful and grow year-round, most of the time at no cost to me. Plus, they last for weeks. But now it’s Christmas, and time to move into holiday décor mode. I’ve decided to maintain the aesthetics of these arrangements by combining tropical elements with Christmas glitz, and I’ll show you how you, too, can do it.
For this project you will need (pictured):
* Vase
* Coco/dasheen or other large leaf
* Gold spray paint
* Floral foam
* Poinsettias
* Gold branches
* Any other Christmas decoration
You will then:
1. Spray-paint coco leaves gold in a well-ventilated area, using old newspapers to protect the surface on which you are working.
2. Cut and fit foam inside vase. This is to help hold florals in place
3. Insert coco leaves in foam creating a fan effect.
4. Insert branches in between coco leaves.
5. Fill in with poinsettias starting at the front and bottom with colours of your choice, working in twos, threes and fours. Continue until the centre is filled in and in a way that is pleasing to you
With simple touches like these, you can add Christmas cheer throughout your home using left-over decorations.
Happy Holidays, everyone, and be sure to follow us each week for great festive tips and ideas.
