School grounds-man knocks teacher unconscious
ST MARY, Jamaica — A St Mary man facing charges of unlawful wounding after he knocked a basic school teacher unconscious last week was remanded when he appeared before the Port Maria Resident Magistrate Court this morning.
In custody is 37-year-old Clinton Irons while hospitalised in serious condition is Jacqueline Samuels.
Reports are that on Tuesday, November 20, Samuels, a teacher at the Timothy Burke Basic School, Lucky Hill got in an argument with Irons over actions she had taken against his son, a student at the school.
Irons’ son had reportedly urinated on himself in class and was given a mop to clean up the floor. The child was said to have repeatedly urinated on himself instead of going to the restroom.
Irons, a grounds-man at the school, came to collect his son when he saw the child cleaning the floor.
He got into an argument with the teacher before a brick was used to hit her in the head.
She was rushed to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital from where she was airlifted to the Kingston Public Hospital.
Samuels has reportedly been in a coma since.
Irons is yet to secure legal representation.
