Holland keep semi-final spot in sight
HOLLAND High kept pace for a semi-final place in the ISSA/KFC Western high schools boys basketball Under-19 competition after scoring a big 82-44 win over Irwin High on Wednesday.
Holland’s fourth win from six games takes them to 10 points, tied with two other schools, including Irwin, and in fifth place behind leaders Muschett High on 14 points.
Defending champions Cornwall College are on 13 and Herbert Morrison and William Knibb Memorial on 11 points.
Meanwhile today, St James High and Green Pond will meet in a double-header at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
On Wednesday, Holland, who were led by Clifton Shettleworth’s game-high 27 points, were easy winners over the St James school as they got off to a good start and led 19-8 after the first quarter, 42-15 at half-time and 61-23 at the end of the third quarter.
Shettleworth also had nine assists, three steals and three rebounds; Kenrick Lindo scored 16 points while Romario Bowlin scored 14 points.
Martin Lamey scored 25 points for Irwin.
