University Hospital to get new CT scanner
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Cabinet has approved the award of a contract to Arel Limited for the supply and installation of a Computed Tomography (CT) scanner at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), at a cost of some US$646,944.
Minister with responsibility for Information, Senator Sandrea Falconer made the announcement during the Jamaica House press briefing, held at the Office of the Prime Minister on December 6.
Falconer said that the approval is in keeping with the endorsement of the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the National Contracts Commission.
She noted that there has been increased demand for CT scanning services at the UHWI. The institution’s Radiology Department is currently the largest imaging facility in the English speaking Caribbean.
