MONTEGO BAY, St James – Chairman of the St James Ministers’ Fraternal Rev Glendon Powell has expressed confidence that the march and motorcade that will be staged in the resort city of Montego Bay on Saturday will have a positive impact on that section of western Jamaica.

” The event will definitely have a tremendous impact. It will send a positive message and will give hope to thousands of people,” he told the Observer West.

Rev Powell said that he expects anywhere between 6,000 and 10,000 persons to participate in the “massive event,” which is being staged by the St James Ministers’ Fraternal in association with the Errol Rattray Evangelistic Association.

Already, he said, more than 30 pastors and hundreds of Church members from across Montego Bay have confirmed their participation in the event, organised to change attitudes and behaviour in the country.

“We believe that the Church has a mandate given by God to go all over the world, but we need to begin at home (Montego Bay) where we have recognised that the enemy is destroying many people thorough various forms,” he emphasised.

” As Christians we need to recognise that we are the light of the world and where there is darkness we should bring the light”.

Scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm, the march is being held under the banner ‘Taking back our families, our city, our nation from the clutches of darkness, and celebrating Jamaica 50’.

Participants will assemble at four separate starting points — Sangster International Airport round-about, Total Gas Station at Sun Valley Road, the entrance to Cornwall Regional Hospital, and the RADA round-about at West Green — then march to Sam Sharpe Square for a rally and praise concert scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
