Reno make winning start in Western Super League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Demoted Premier League teams Reno FC and Village United made contrasting starts to their Jamaica Football Federation’s Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League, as the season opened with a double header at Jarrett Park on Tuesday.
Reno FC edged Granville FC 1-0 in the clash of former champions, while Village went down 0-1 to former champions Wadadah.
The competition will continue this afternoon with four more games — Norwood Strikers from St James will make their Super League debut when they travel to the Elliston Wakeland Centre to face Holland United; Petersfield host Logwood; Catherine Hall take on Harmony at the UDC field, while Bamboo will meet Tomorrow’s People.
On Tuesday, Ronario Downswell scored in the 86th minute to give Reno a winning start, but Village United which finished with 10 players, went down to a 28th minute goal from Wadadah’s Curtis Palmer.
Nicholas Falconer of Village was sent off for using foul and abusive language.
