New winners in Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum Corporate Golf Challenge
THE Xsomo Paper to Digital Limited Team of Kirby Rodgers, Dr Burt Rodney, Winston Innerarity, and David McNulty won the Challenge with a score of eight-under-par in the 2012 Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum Corporate Golf Challenge at the Constant Spring Golf Club on Wednesday.
The annual tournament, which is a fundraising event, was opened to businesses from across Jamaica. Each business house team that participated, consisted of four members, one of whom had to be directly associated with the company.
This year, the participants were given something extra special to aim for. Cecil Smith, marketing manager for Owned Brands at J Wray & Nephew Limited, explain: “For Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary of Independence, we thought that it would be very fitting to offer an Appleton Estate 50-Year-Old Jamaica Rum — Jamaica Independence Reserve to the first golfer to score a hole in one at the tournament.
“Although no golfer scored a hole in one, wholehearted congratulations must go to the Xsomo Paper to Digital Limited team, as it was a marvel to see them perform at such a high level. Especially for such a sophisticated sport that isn’t widely played in the island,” he added.
The Xsomo Paper to Digital Limited team won the Appleton Estate Corporate Golf Challenge Trophy, with each team member also getting a Master Blenders Gift Package, and a framed picture.
The Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum Corporate Golf Challenge began in 2006.
Winners of the tournament include Lawe Insurance Brokers Limited; Caribbean Broilers Limited; Alliance Investments Management Limited; LIME and G4S Jamaica Limited.
