Central Village gang leader gets bail
DAVE Morgan, the reputed leader of the Born Bless gang in Central Village, St Catherine, whose arrest last Thursday led to reported death threats against the police, was yesterday offered bail in the sum of $200,000.
The 28-year-old was offered bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court following an application by his attorney Christian Tavares-Finson.
Morgan was charged with possession of and dealing in cocaine after a bust at his home in Little Lane where 51 pieces of cocaine were allegedly seized, along with cash amounting to $119,000.
Following Morgan’s arrest, the police said steps would be taken to have the confiscated cash forfeited.
In the wake of the arrest, police personnel living and working in Central Village, Spanish Town and other areas close to Central Village were placed on high alert as men associated with Morgan were reportedly making death threats.
Yesterday, Morgan’s attorney told the court that no cocaine was found on his client or at his house.
As part of his bail condition, Morgan is to report to the Central Village Police Station every Thursday. He’s to also remain at home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 am each day.
The court was told that the case file is incomplete. Morgan will next return to court on March 19, 2013.
