Jimmy Cliff’s Rebirth makes 50-best list
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Since veteran Jamaican singer Jimmy’s Cliff released his Rebirth album it has been enjoying international accolades from music pundits.
The album made the Reggae Grammy nomination list for 2013 awards and is now in the top 50 Best of 2012 compilations from both Rolling Stone and ABC News.
On Rolling Stone’s list the album came in at number 12 behind rock singer Bruce Springsteen in the top position with Wrecking Ball, Frank Ocean’s Orange in at number two and Jack White’s Blunderbuss finishing in the top three spot.
On ABC News, Rebirth is in the 48th position. The website listed favourite tracks from the old school reggae album produced by Rancid’s Tim Armstrong.
Children’s Bread, Ruby Soho, World Upside Down, Outsider, Bang and Guns of Brixton were the highlighted tracks.
