Cliff’s Rebirth makes 2012 50 best list
SINCE Jimmy Cliff’s album Rebirth was released in February it has enjoyed numerous accolades from music pundits and was recently nominated for a Grammy in the Best Reggae Album category.
It also made the top 50 albums of 2012 for Rolling Stone magazine and ABC News. On Rolling Stone’s table, Rebirth came in at number 12, behind Bruce Springsteen in top position with Wrecking Ball, Frank Ocean’s Orange at number two, and Jack White’s Blunderbuss in third.
On the ABC News list, Rebirth is in 48th position. The station’s website listed favourite tracks from the Tim Armstrong-produced album as Children’s Bread, Ruby Soho, World Upside Down, Outsider, Bang, and Guns of Brixton.
Rebirth has sold just 33,000 copies in the United States, according to SoundScan, the company that monitors album sales in that country.
