2012 — A REAR-VIEW GLANCE
2012 was a year of highs and lows for Jamaica’s auto industry. The period saw the Auto Dealers Association’s biannual car show resuming after a three-year break; used-car dealers expressing the view that business in the industry was on the upswing; under 300 persons died on the island’s roadways, a first since 1999; while tireless advocate for the rights of public transport vehicle operators Ezroy Millwood, who had been locked in a long-term legal battle with the Government, passed away. Traffic-related issues remained in the news, with Senior Superintendent of Police Radcliffe Lewis, leading a fearless fight against unlawful use of the roadways.
