WITH Sting celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Downsound Records CEO Josef Bogdanovich says his company will once again be on board.

Bogdanovich told Splash that he and Supreme Promotions, organisers of the Boxing Day show, are already planning the 2013 edition.

“It is going to be much better than 2012. I have had a chance to work on the ground with the Supreme staff and directors and we understand what it takes to represent Jamaica at its core like no other production in Jamaica today,” he said.

Downsound Records and Supreme Promotions merged for last week’s Sting, which many consider its best in years.

Bogdanovich says based on patron response the show was an overwhelming success.

“The show remained true to form in that it gave support to new and unknown artistes.

“Stacious and other new artistes shone bright, like Chronixx, Nature, and some of those ‘itty bitty’ ones like Nazir and Don Husky who got their opportunity and did well,” he explained. “The clash tag team style was innovative and exciting.”

Another satisfying aspect of Sting 2012 was the absence of offstage drama.

“The show had no incidents on the ground. Not one accident was reported to medics, the police and private security did their job incident-free. The vibe, generally speaking, was peaceful where patrons enjoyed themselves thoroughly,” Bogdanovich said.

Another priority for Bogdanovich this year is to break Downsound artistes such as Khago, Nature, Specialist and Ishawna internationally.
