US$29m worth of cocaine seized near Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Authorities in Puerto Rico say they have confiscated more than $29 million worth of cocaine aboard a boat intercepted east of the US territory.
The US Coast Guard said Friday that it had seized more than 2,600 pounds (1,179 kilograms) of cocaine and arrested two men from the Dominican Republic.
US Attorney Rosa Emilia Rodriguez said the drugs were being transferred from a go-fast boat intercepted near St Croix in the US Virgin Islands on Sunday. She said the boat had departed South America and was headed to Puerto Rico.
