British singer and new mother Adele has been nominated for an Oscar for her 007 theme Skyfall, but the Bond blockbuster sensationally missed out on a Best Film nod. The singer took to her Twitter page for the first time in nearly a month to express her delight over the honour, tweeting: “Oh my god I feel like Meryl Streep!! Thank you x” If Skyfall wins it will be the first 007 song to scoop an Academy Award in the 89-year history of the Oscars. Although Skyfall, starring Daniel Craig, made more than $1 billion worldwide and is the most successful film yet in the 50-year history. However, it was snubbed by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, despite the ceremony having a special of the Bond ‘tribute’ segment to celebrate the franchise. If Adele’s Skyfall took home the Best Original Song Oscar, it would mark the first time a Bond theme has taken the honour. It would not be the first Bond song to receive a nomination, however, as Paul McCartney and Wings’ Live And Let Die was up for the prize back in 1973, but lost out to The Way We Were. The singer is competing against Before My Time from Chasing Ice, Everybody Needs A Best Friend from Ted, Pi’s Lullaby and Suddenly from Les Miserables.

Country star gets ‘Kanye-d’ at The People’s Choice Awards

As if Taylor Swift hadn’t had a tough enough week. Newly single and braving her first red carpet event post the end of her relationship with One Direction star Harry Styles, Taylor was ‘Kanye-d’ onstage at The People’s Choice Awards by host Olivia Munn. In hilarious scenes brunette Olivia refused to hand over Taylor’s Favourite Country Artiste award, saying it was awkward that the blonde had won. But showing some plucky courage Taylor, who was wearing a plunging white gown, managed to keep up with the joke, saying to Olivia: “This always happens to me… God!” In 2009 rapper Kanye West stormed the stage of the MTV Video Music Awards, interrupting Taylor’s big moment, and the term ‘Kanye-d’ was born.

‘Ab-tastic’!

It’s a wonder Alicia Keys finds time to eat, let alone exercise considering how busy she always appears to be. But judging by her stomach muscles, which she revealed as she performed in a crop top, the singer is definitely fitting in a workout or two. The 31-year-old hot-footed it to Las Vegas to perform following her electrifying appearance at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday evening. Taking to the stage at the Monster CES Party in the Paris Ballroom in Las Vegas, Alicia showcased her incredible figure. Dressed in a pair of high-waisted trousers, the Girl On Fire star had her washboard abs on display in a tiny white crop top. Covering up, so as not to reveal too much flesh, she slipped a white jacket on over her top. With her hair slicked back off her face, with plenty of eye make-up Alicia strutted her stuff on stage looking really powerful. It’s been non-stop for the mother-of-two, who performed at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday evening. The R ‘n’ B star had the honour of kicking off the ceremony with a performance of her latest hit Girl On Fire.
