KINGSTON, Jamaica — Singer Johnny Osbourne, whose career started in the late 1960s, has made a comeback after linking with one of the top producers in contemporary pop music.

His song, Mr Marshall, is sampled by producers Major Lazer for their song, Jah No Partial, which is currently number 44 on Billboard’s Dance Music Club Play chart.

Osbourne, who resides in New York City, is best known for vintage hits songs like Come Back Darling, Ice Cream Love, Buddy Bye and Rewind. 

He said Major Lazer contacted him through a friend for whom he records dubs.

According to Osbourne the success of Jah No Partial has enhanced his appeal with younger fans in Europe.

“The young people there love the old school reggae. Dub step, drum and bass and dem tings mek dem go crazy. Just seeing them jumping to the music is rewarding enough,” said Osbourne.

Jah No Partial is credited to Major Lazer featuring Flux Pavillion. Pavillion is a dub step producer from England. Major Lazer formerly comprised of producers Diplo and Switch who is no longer a part of the team.

Major Lazer has worked with a number of Dancehall artistes such as Supa Hype, Leftside, Mr Vegas, Turbulence, Vybz Kartel, Ward 21, Busy Signal and TOK. 

Last year, they produced the track Push and Shove by No Doubt featuring Busy Signal.
