The spectacular performances of the Grammy Awards are often spoken about for weeks after the show, as artistes tend to bring their A game to the table. Typically the contenders for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards are among those selected to perform on the big night. The ceremony, which will be hosted by rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J, is slated to take place on the 10th of February. Saturday Hustle shares a few of the performers you can look forward to at the 55th staging of the Grammy Awards.
Suit and Tie
Justin Timberlake
After taking a six-year break from the music industry, Timberlake made a much -anticipated return last month with the release of his single Suit and Tie on his album The 20/20 Experience. The singer, who will most likely be clad in a custom-made Tom Ford suit, will perform his comeback single featuring rapper Jay-Z.
Lonely Boy
The Black Keys
The Black Keys is a two-man duo comprising singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and
drummer Patrick Carney. Lonely Boy is the first single on their Grammy-nominated album El Camino. The single is not only the best charting for the group thus far, but it is also nominated for Best Rock Song, Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance.
I Will Wait
Mumford & Sons
British Rock band Mumford & Sons had an extremely successful year with their album Babel. Not only was it nominated for Album of the Year, but it was also given the prestigious honour of being Billboard’s No 1 Rock Album for a second straight year. The single I Will Wait, which was released last year in August, had a successful stint on the Billboard charts.
Over You
Miranda Lambert
Country superstar Miranda Lambert, who was recently given the title of female vocalist of the year as bestowed by both the Country Music Association, co-wrote the single Over You with her husband Blake Shelton. The song is said to be written in memory of Shelton’s older brother Richie who died in an accident in 1990.
Where Have You Been?
Rihanna
Barbadian singer Rihanna has three nominations this year. Her single Where Have You Been? is nominated for Best Solo Performance; Talk That Talk which features Jay-Z is up for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration; and We Found Love for Best Short Form Music Video (featuring Calvin Harris). The successful single Where Have You Been? which industry experts predict she will perform, was produced by Calvin Harris, Dr Luke and Cirkut.
