Fashion face-off
There was a sea of supermodels at the premiere of The Face in New York last Tuesday. And Karolina Kurkova managed the seemingly impossible task of stealing the spotlight away from her fellow coaches Naomi Campbell and Coco Rocha. The 28-year-old made for an arresting sight in an unusual and striking blue dress.
The strapless frock was entirely fringed, which made it look as though it was made up of bright and bold streamers. As the Czech beauty walked, there was plenty of movement from the swishy belted number. The dress also had a sexy split up one side, and Karolina wisely teamed it with simple accessories in the form of strappy black sandals and a single cuff.
Meanwhile, Naomi went for effortless glamour to promote the series at Marquee in The Big Apple. The iconic 42-year-old chose a white fishtail gown which clung to her curves in all the right places. Naomi was dripping in diamonds as she arrived on the red carpet in a cream fur coat which she removed before posing up for photographers. Coco decided to opt for all-out glamour for the premiere, turning heads in a floor-length black sequined gown with saucy sheer panels, by Emilio Pucci. With smoky eyes, lashings of scarlet lipstick and her hair styled in soft finger waves, Coco was left looking like a Flapper. The trio posed side by side along with former America’s Next Top Model judge Nigel Barker, who is the host of the new model competition show.

De Niro breaks down on Couric’s show
Robert De Niro broke down while discussing his hit film Silver Linings Playbook — because he has a child with special needs and the movie’s subject is extremely close to his heart. The tough-guy actor is Oscar- nominated for his role as the father of a man, played by Bradley Cooper, who is struggling with bipolar disorder.
De Niro, a father of six, wept as he discussed the film with Katie Couric after previously revealing: “If you’re a father, you certainly understand what it’s like to go through the worry about your kids, especially if they’ve got issues like Bradley’s character has.
Sometimes it can be overwhelming. It can be nightmarish and upsetting. There’s nothing much you can do but deal with it.”
De Niro was a guest on Katie to discuss the hit film with director David O Russell and co-star Bradley, who plays Pat Solitano.
When asked about the film’s premise, the Goodfellas actor began to cry.
Russell has spoken openly about how personal the film was for him because his own son Matthew, 18, has bipolar disorder. And De Niro, who has been married to his wife Grace Hightower for the past 14 years, broke down when Katie Couric asked: “Did you feel a greater responsibility about doing a film that David had so much personally invested in?”
The star replied: “Of course, I uhm – I understand.” After a long pause, he tried to continue, but choked up, stammering: “I don’t like to get emotional, but I know exactly what he goes through.”
