Corporal Michael James marries sweetheart
ROSE HALL, St James – EVERYONE at the recent ceremony to solemnise the marriage vows between entrepreneur Gwendolyn Nicks and Corporal Michael James, a member of Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), agreed that it was simply exquisite.
It wasn’t just about the impeccable style — the brilliant contrast of the bridal party’s rose pink gowns against the bride’s flawlessly fitted white strapless gown — songstress Salome Poyser; Dean Frazer on saxophone; reggae artist Lukie D of the talented all-male group LUST, and the other accessories helped to distinguish the wedding.
The magic of the afternoon resided in the spirit of happiness that permeated the event, which started at the beautiful Dream Castle Villa in Ironshore, where the couple’s guests watched as the bridal party led the procession at the elegantly decorated poolside to Poyser’s definitive execution of Celine Dion’s rendition of The Power of Love.
It was the perfect introduction for a glowing Gwendolyn to drift towards the bridal party on the arm of a proud Marshall Thompson of the legendary Chi-Lites to saxophonist Dean Frazer’s beautiful rendition of The First Time I Saw Your Face.
A reassuring Pastor of the Montego Bay-based Faith Christian Fellowship, Orton Deans, took the couple through the ceremony with a timely homily, immediately after which Poyser again warmed the hearts of the guests with her rendition of For You.
Later, at the upscale Ritz Carlton Resort and Spa, the newly-weds relaxed the earlier formalities to host their guests, who included president of the Jamaica Federation of Musicians (JFM) Desmond Young; broadcaster Barrington ‘Barry G’ Gordon, and wife Josett; CEO Hot 102 FM Ken Williams; journalist Brian Miller and wife Glenda; recording artiste Noddy Virtue and wife Gillian; Maxi Clarke and wife Joy; Master of Ceremonies, Lenny Green of 107.5 WBLS radio in New York.
Armed with the years of experience in broadcasting, Green ensured that the touching and refreshingly efficient toasts were skilfully punctuated with just the right touch of oratory to modulate the tone of the evening.
And so the guests got cozy over Ritz-Carlton’s scrumptious spread of fine cuisine as Lukie D, Thompson, Poyser and others, entertained the appreciative audience.
Dancing followed with the newly weds opening the floor with the guests in tow, creating a breathtaking spectacle of glamour and romance as the evening came to a close.
