Jamaican lauded for outstanding performance at WRA
OHIO, USA — Two members of Western Reserve Academy’s (WRA) Class of 2013 have earned recognition in the 49th annual national achievement scholarship programme, which recognises outstanding African-American students.
Erin Cohen of Kingston, Jamaica, has been selected as an outstanding participant in the programme, while another student, Robert Stephens, was named a finalist.
Cohen earned her honour by scoring in the top three per cent of African-American students who requested consideration when they took the 2011 preliminary SAT/national merit scholarship qualifying test. Stephens, a member of the WRA football team, was one of approximately 1,600 students who advanced last fall as semi-finalists, out of more than 160,000 students nationwide who enter the national achievement programme each year.
Western Reserve Academy is a co-ed boarding school for students in grades nine to 12. The community includes students from 22 states and 13 countries.
