Living It Up At Half Moon, A Rock Resort
The Royal Villas
Take the high road or, rather, the caddy driven by some of the most charming bellmen in the Caribbean. Enjoy the gentle breeze and the scenic views as you head to one of Half Moon’s Royal Villas. Doing it with friends is best – thanks, Brian and Keneea George – and is a great home away from home. Not sure just how much privacy the Georges got – save for when they shut the bedroom door – but a great time was had by all.
The Royal Villas come with a personal butler, housekeeper and cook.
Spa Suite
It was love at first sight! I mean, what’s not to love about a 700-1000-square foot spa suite? Constantly in demand – who wouldn’t want a suite with French doors that open to the Caribbean Sea! The jatoba wood floors, spacious living, dining and spa areas and travertine floors are pretty cool, too. But the fully air-conditioned bathrooms – trust me on this one – give new meaning to en suite!
I’ve had the good fortune of escaping to a spa suite on several occasions. Post FNO-(four years ago), and quite a few weddings. Organiser of all things fab Yvonne Wilkes customised a girls’ spa retreat – we spent all, day getting buffed and polished and feeling like the invincible femmes from Sex and the City when we were done.
SIDE BAR
Oversized bedrooms are outfitted with either king or two queen custom-made thera-pedic Half Moon Memories bed.
The custom-made beds are further accented for comfort and elegance with hand-made solid walnut and hand-tufted upholstered headboards and side rails. Bedrooms are also complemented with 36-inch flat panel televisions, custom writing desks with Internet access and hand-blown glass bedside lamps.
Bathrooms
A five-piece bathroom features sensuous chroma-therapy bubble massage tub. Separate showers are designed to imitate nature with rain shower heads and added therapeutic body jets. Dual sinks sit atop granite counter tops with grooming/make-up vanity. A private water closet, bath and body apothecary baskets, towel sheets, three individual vanity mirrors and plush spa robes complete the amenities of this state-of-the-art en suite.
Imperial Suite
I’m calling no names here, save that of Sandra Samuels (now Samuels-Reid). But Imperial Suites – Half Moon’s most luxurious lodging options, which feature lavish Queen Anne mahogany reproductions with vibrant Caribbean accents – take SO back to those heady days of Jazz at Cinnamon Hill. Cue Barbara Streisand’s The Way We Were.
